The harm question
What could go wrong?
Study reports and the quality of a proposed product are separate questions.
Here, FDA refers to the Food and Drug Administration, the US agency for drugs.
In the studies reviewed by FDA, the most often reported problems were soreness, redness and irritation where the shot was given.

What do harm reports and product warnings leave open?
Most studies did not link the peptide to major harm, but that does not establish the safety of an unapproved product.
Small studies reported rises in liver blood-test results in people with hepatitis B, a liver infection. Serious problems were also reported after stem-cell transplants, treatments that replace the cells that make blood. These included a deadly blood disorder and failure of the new cells to take hold. The reports do not prove that the peptide caused these problems.
The FDA’s review raised concerns about unwanted material in the product and peptide particles sticking together. The body might treat the injected substance as an invader and react against it. The exact harm is uncertain.
Ask how the proposed product’s quality is checked, and who will respond if a problem occurs.
What about pregnancy or illnesses affecting the body’s defences?
The Italian product warnings, as FDA described them in 2024, rule out use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Autoimmune disease means the body’s defences attack its own tissues.
That summary also urges caution for people with allergies or autoimmune disease, and when medicines that affect the body’s defences are used together.
As of September 28, 2026, there are no FDA-reviewed US instructions for doctors on thymosin alpha-1. FDA has not reviewed a list of people who must avoid it or medicines that may cause problems when used with it.
Take a list of your medicines and a record of your health history to the doctor. Ask how those details change the discussion.
When should I seek urgent help?
Breathing trouble or swelling of your face or tongue may warn of a severe allergic reaction.
For a severe allergic reaction, call 911 or get care at the nearest emergency room.
Do not wait for an online reply in an emergency.
Which claims deserve a pause?
As of September 28, 2026, a claim that thymosin alpha-1 has FDA approval is false.
The Federal Trade Commission warns that health adverts can use fake endorsements and promises of miracle results.
Pause an offer that cannot explain its product, evidence or follow-up. Bring the exact wording to a doctor.
